Reviews of Hotel Folly in Folly Beach, SC

My girlfriend and I were planning a trip to James Island to visit my Mother. Of course Folly Beach was booked 100% for the time slot we wanted. So instead, I booked a room in Charleston where the host was charging double the normal rate for a studio room at the very last moment possible. Charleston was booked 98% and we had no choice. I got a notice that they were going to charge my card and that it would be 24 hours before any confirmation went out. On the way down we went to a Chaine de Roti event at Biltmore and afterwards we stayed the night at Biltmore Village Hotel. The next morning we were killing time waiting on the Charleston confirmation. It had not come, so we called AirBnB customer service only to find that the reservation had not gone through. We bi..hed and moaned with no results and finally removed the app from the phone. This leaves us stuck in Asheville with no where to go. Our only option is to stay another night in Asheville and we had a lovely stay at the Moxy. This little manuever put us into a different time slot and lo and behold up popped the Folly Hotel with a one bedroom unit with a balcony and a view to the marsh. We had passed by the Folly Hotel some ten times on past visits and had never even considered this as a place that would be good for us. My girlfriend was actually a little hesitant but we had no choice. Folly Hotel it was! We made direct reservations by phone and the person we talked to was fantastic. Our unit was on the third floor and I must tell you that there is no elevator. More exercise for us but it was not that bad. We had a parking space directly across from our stairs where we were able to leave the car and experience the wonderful walkability of Folly Beach. I digress, so back to the Hotel Folly. We had been given the door code via email and as we pushed open the door the most delightful one bedroom apartment greeted us with vibrant colors and tasteful artwork and furnishings. We were actually surprised at how nice the unit was decorated. The bed was comfortable the large shower was perfect and the balcony had just the right view of the marsh and the constant stream of people walking the Center Street shuffle. My girlfriend and I had the perfect stay in a wonderful room at the Folly Hotel and we will be back!

Fabulous! Everything you need for a stay on Folly plus a stellar view of the marsh and sunset from the deck. Will stay here again definitely:)

Nice location, very clean comfortable studio. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, and ocean.
