Reviews of Okanagan Smiles in Kelowna, BC

My experience at Okanagan Smiles has been absolutely amazing. Having recently moved to the area and taking on the daunting task of finding a new dental hygienist, I took on a referral to go to Okanagan Smiles. The facility alone is beautiful and very well kept, but the technology they implement there is state of the art. Dr. Vikram took such good care of me during my procedure. The local block worked great, and I barely felt anything from the procedure. I have to say that in all the years I have been going to the dentist, this experience has by far has been the best. Thank you to the ladies in the reception, the dental hygienists and Dr. Vikram for such great care.

As an active parent in the Kelowna community we have been attending Interior Healths free toddler fluoride varnish program. The hygienist there recommended that we see a dentist as it looked like my daughter had some enamel that had not formed properly during her development in utero. We initially went to the specialty children's dentist in town. After many frustrations of not being able to get proper images for diagnostic and STILL getting charged for them they made a "best guess" treatment plan and then suggested that should my daughter not co-operate under the influence of laughing gas, they would suggest referring out for my daughter to be fully sedated (put under) in a hospital type setting to get this work done. Having a 3 years old, this suggestion was not acceptable to me unless MAJOR work was necessary. There HAD to be another way!!!! I have a friend who works at another dental office in town. I took her the quote, she looked at and said first of all, these surfaces that they have listed do not make sense, second of all these rates are ridiculously highly and because they are specialists, they don't have to follow the fee guideline of regular dentists. Third, they charged you for X-rays that they could not get an accurate diagnostic on? And then "best guessed" your daughters dental situation and then "best guessed" your costs also while telling you that if it doesn't work they would suggest you put your three year old completely under in a hospital setting?? She told me that as a mother in the dental industry, this would be unacceptable to her. And I AGREE! Also, would I consider giving a "regular dentist" a shot? I agreed to give this "regular dentist" a try. What did I have to lose? I'd already put out hundreds to the so-called "specialty dentist," what was a few hundred more? considering that putting my 3 year old daughter out cold was not an acceptable option for me! As it turns out this "regular dentist" was not a regular dentist at all!! He was AMAZING!! Both him and his staff were PHENOMENAL with my daughter. They were able to get pictures on the first shot (yes, it did take some time and effort but they had allowed extra time for her being a toddler.) "No rush" they said. This immediately took the pressure off me and my daughter. From there they gave me a treatment plan that quoted HALF the price of the specialist but Dr. Grewal HAD proper diagnostic images!! What a HUGE DIFFERENCE from one dentist to the next!!! On our first visit for treatment it took a little bit longer because my daughter had to get used to all those weird, new feelings but, again, they had accounted for that in the appointment booking. Again, it was "no rush." Again, the pressure was off for myself and my 3 year old. By the second visit, Dr. Grewal completed her filling in LESS than 30 minutes. THAT is how comfortable they made us both (a nervous mom AND a three year old) !! If you have a toddler, save your money on the specialist and have a consult with Dr. Grewal. Or if you have already been to the specialist and are looking for a second opinion, Dr Grewal is a knowledgeable source, great with kids and very REASONABLY priced!!

The best dental experience I've ever had.

Amazing experience! I really don't like going to the dentist, but Dallas, Jen, and Dr. Visscher were all really nice, gentle, and put me at ease. Easily the most relaxed I've ever been at the dentist before! They all did a great job, and my teeth feel fantastic. Thank you all!

Excellent service. I called at 10 am for an appointment and I was scheduled for the same day! My tooth was fixed by 3 pm the same day!!

Very friendly staff ,quick an easy assessment , very informative , gave us lots of options plus gave us referral to orthodontist for further consultation before we make our desision :) would very much recommend to our friends or others in need of dental work !

After not regularly going to the dentist for 10 years due to bad experiences, I can finally say I have found a dentist that I will continue to regularly visit. With great care from the front office and support staff and most current technology, add that with the great professionalism and expert precision of Dr. Jonathan Visscher, I will continue to recommend everyone in the Okanagan to this office.

I was very pleased with my experience. Everyone was very friendly; my examination was the most thorough I have ever had; the cleaning was less painful than I had expected.

Let me start by saying thank you to all the staff that dealt with at Okanagan Smiles, Jane and Jen at the front desk were fantastic. (Hope I have the names correct) I was visiting some relatives in Kelowna and while eating something a piece a molar fell off. I found Okanagan Smiles on the internet and gave them a call to see if they could help me out. They had me in the very next day, WOW. I was only staying in Kelowna for a couple of days so Dr. Visscher put a temporary piece to help cover the gap until I could get home to have my dentist do the rest. If I was looking for a dentist and lived in Kelowna I would signing on with the Okanagan Smiles group as my permanent dentist.

I was impressed before I met any of the staff. I sent an email request for an appointment on a Sunday evening and had a confirmation sent back to me by 8:00 am Monday morning! The experience only got better when I made my first visit! All the staff were courteous, attentive and extremely helpful. Dr. Visscher's professionalism and expertise truly made my dental procedure "quick and painless"! Thank you.

Okanagan Smiles right from the first phone call was excellent. Not only are the staff pleasant, professional & efficient...the entire experience is. I especially love that the concerns that I needed addressing were dealt with in a timely fashion. Felt very welcomed and was really nervous about coming to the dentist, awesome technician and the girls at reception were super friendly and explanatory about all of the questions I had. I've already posted to my Facebook page about my experience there because I actually felt it was relevant to mention how much peace of mind and comfortable it was.

Your friendly staff made me feel right at home the first time I had an appointment. You're all very accommodating and you treat your patients like you've known them a long time and that makes us comfortable. Great job!

I was very impressed from the moment I stepped in to Dr Visscher's office. All the staff greeted me with a smile, were friendly and very professional. The staff worked very hard on my behalf in dealing with the insurance company and saved me a lot of money. I have honestly never felt so comfortable while I was getting prepped for 3 crowns and the fitting of my permanents. This was my first crowns I have received. I highly recommend Dr Visscher and the staff at Okanagan Smiles. Thanks Dr Visscher!

Friendly and professional. My first encounter last year was an out of town visitor, due to a loose tooth whereby I was referred to an excellent periodontist in the area. This year I have made a permanent move to Kelowna ... and to Okanagan Smiles. Attended my first full dental check-up with x-rays/cancer screening and then hygienist's appointment. Dental assistant very caring and patient with me as I have a dreadful gag reflex - we finally got all the x-rays done. Next, Dr. Visscher paid full attention to each area of concern I voiced and addressed each one, alleviating my fears and making good recommendations. The dental hygienist explained each step of the cleaning process and had a gentle application. Thought I'd also point out that she made pleasant small talk but was not one of those hygienists who start trying to make a conversation with you while your mouth is full of tools and you make incoherent answers while secretly being scared you'll swallow the instruments! Nice job Jen, appreciate the attention to the cleaning, not the conversation. Will definitely be back in 6 months for my next follow-up.
