Top Notch Chimney Sweeps & Services is a locally owned company serving Des Moines and it's surrounding communities with outstanding service since 2002. We are a full service certified chimney company that specialize in cleaning, diagnosing, repairing, and inspecting fireplace and woodstove chimneys. We do both residential and commercial work. We offer both Level 1 & Level 2 inspections to homeowners, insurance agent, real estate professionals, and property management company's. Our company has been in the Chimney Sweep & Dryer Vent Cleaning Industry for 11 years. We've attend the Chimney Diagnoses & Documentation Course offered at the Chimney Safety Institute of America. We've been trained in Traditional Historic Masonry Restorations @ The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation, and we have attend the Ahern Masonry Chimney & Fireplace Building Course in Wisconsin. We've attend the ASHI Training for Home Inspectors in Minnesota. We hold membership, in the National Chimney Sweep Guild. And currently I hold designation as both a CERTIFIED CHIMNEY PROFESSIONAL #1365900778 & CERTIFIED CHIMNEY RELINER #1365972440 & CERTIFIED MASTER CHIMNEY TECHNICIAN #015

It helps when a professional knows the correct solution to problems. We had other chimney services before. One even said we would have to take out the firebox for repairs. Top Notch cleaned, renewed the fireplace, and solved a corrosion problem. Hats off to Top Notch Chimney!

Tom did a great job cleaning my chimney! I was not expecting such a thorough cleaning and after 20+ years of doing it ourselves, I was very pleased. He made sure to not make a mess and cleaned up after himself so that the fireplace looks so good I hate to use it and get it dirty again. The service was very professional and all of my questions were courteously answered. I would recommend them to anyone and I will schedule their services again.

We were so pleased with our service from Top Notch Chimney Sweeps. Tom was very considerate to call when he arrived a few minutes early to make sure we were ready for him. I was expecting it to get messy because I guess I've seen Mary Poppins too many times! However, there was no mess left behind- but sadly, no singing and dancing either ;) Tom was friendly and professional and worked quickly. After he had finished the inspection and cleaning his tools up, he was very informative about the inspection he had done and was able to assure me that our fireplace and chimney were in good, safe working order. I was impressed with their local, family owned and operated business from the first phone call to the followup email with my inspection report and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Great work! Very responsive! They called ahead to confirm, were on time, knew what they were doing and were done in just a few hours! This visit by Tom & his son Matt was the most professional and even charming experience my wife and I have ever had by anyone asked into our home to perform a service on appliances or the structure itself! In this case it required both and they did a wonderful job of ensuring we would have a safe and effecient use of our newest appliance(our clothes dryer) They immediately(after carefully removing shoes)took off the door to the laundry area & lifted out the dryer, removed the exhaust hose to the roof vent & quickly discovered we had visitors(a family of birds including unhatched eggs),went to their truck, put a giant ladder to the 2nd level roof, which Tom climbed & began removing the nest while Matt took all equipment inside to vacuum everything from the inside. It was quite an operation to watch(Masters of efficiency!) The entire time they were also very polite and pleasant to visit with! Will have them back at least every year for followup. Tom with "Top Notch" is truely "TOP NOTCH". My wood stove had a draft problem which worried me. Scheduled an appointment toward the end of Februrary. Tom told me he could be there in three day!!!! Tom inspected the chimney and identified the issue IMMEDIATELy, offered an temporary solution and told me he would correct the problem permanantly and gave me a qoute for the repair. Thank You Tom. You have a repeat customer!

Tom did an excellent job cleaning my dryer vent! I was very impressed by Tom's professionalism and time he spent making sure everything was done perfectly. He even came back the next day to check to make sure the work he did was ok. I have never had a contractor do that before! Thanks to Tom my dryer is working properly again and I can sleep at night knowing my vent is clean and there is greatly reduced risk of a vent fire. I would definitely recommend Tom for any of your chimney sweep needs from dryer vent cleaning to chimney cleaning, and or duct work cleaning. Tom's a hard worker, very ethical, and clearly takes care of his customers.

Tom was nothing short of fabulous! Our fireplace had to be inspected,cleaned and serviced for the sale of our house. Tom came the day after I called and needless to say the fireplace gave him fits. He worked tirelessly to get it running and then figured out it was the wiring. He called and gave us the name of an electrical business to fix the wiring. He kept us updated with us the whole time! Tom is a great guy to work with!

This was my first chimney sweep experience and I'm pretty sure that I couldn't be any luckier in calling these guys to help. Thomas, the owner, and his son both showed up when they said they would. I have to say that these guys gave quality service like I really haven't seen for quite a while. They were easy to understand, gave me options to choose from and followed through on everything they said they would do. Chimney sweeping is not a frequent service I anticipate needing, but I'm certain that these guys have earned my business for quite a few years to come! They are the real deal when it comes to quality service!

I called Top Notch to get a second opinion on a previous chimney inspection. They largely confirmed what the other inspector determined, but they had additional equipment, the Lighthouse Inspection Camera, that revealed our chimney disrepair was far worse than the other inspector had thought. In fact, the chimney was caving in internally and had rotten wood lodged in the flue, a potential fire hazard. This is why guys like Matt and Tom are awesome, as the other inspector told us to light a fire to see if our chimney worked...Top Notch discovered this may well have burned down our home. So, while bad news, it was welcome lifesaving news. Tom and Matt were super professional, courteous, took time to answer all questions, arrived when they said they would, and did an excellent, affordable job. I highly recommend them.

It was a pleasure to work with Tom and Matt. They arrived on time, even early and were professional and easy to talk to. I had a lot of questions and they were patient and happy to answer them all. They protected our floor and furniture and left our living room just as it was. Their estimate was exactly what they told us on the phone. They even took pictures and emailed them to us so we could see what repairs needed to be done. Will not hesitate to use again.

The service was excellent!! Staff are professional and very personable. They went to great lengths to perform the dryer vent cleaning with the utmost care for our home. They responded to my call for a chimney cleaning instantly, and my chimney was clean within the hour (they happened to be in my area). Tom was clear and up front about costs and procedures. We would HIGHLY recommend Tom from Top Notch Chimney Sweeps & Services. He did a great job installing a damper and doing some minor repairs on our chimney and fireplace, along with inspecting and cleaning both. Tom is very knowledgable, thorough, hard working and dependable. Plus he is friendly and trustworthy. He and his son were in and out of our home for ever two hours, and we felt completely comfortable about the work they were doing. They cleaned up their work areas both inside and out as if they had never been here. Additionally, Tom went above and beyond just to do our job. Because we have a very tall chimney, his standard ladder would not reach the top. Instead of saying he couldn't do our job, he purchased a taller ladder to reach the top safely. Now that's what we call good customer service! He was very fair in his pricing too, and gave us a great deal when all was said and done. I was VERY happy with my service, first their response time was extremely fast! My old dryer had died, the new ones have this test cycle for the ventilation and I failed terrible! He made sure it was working perfectly before leaving. I will definitely be adding their name to my service log. For an added bonus he was very pleasant and neat and cleaned up after himself, which is always a plus in my book!
