We had a wonderful experience with Universal. Larry was extremely helpful and patient with us while we picked out our flooring. The installers did a wonderful job and didn't leave a mess. The carpet and vinyl planking look great. I highly recommend Universal, it is the only place I will ever purchase flooring.

Universal Carpet did a great job for a good price. Their service is first rate from Larry who helped us select the right carpet and pad to Josh and Jake who installed it. Larry took the extra time to measure and estimate the work carefully. This kept the cost down and helped with installation. Josh and Jake did a very clean and professional job. They showed up right on time and finished when they said they would. We can recommend Universal Carpet very highly. The new carpet is a big improvement to our home. Thanks for a great job.

Everything went very well. Although it took us over a year to decide Larry was very patient and always treated us great. The price we think was fair and the installers were polite and friendly and did everything we asked. We would recommend Universal to our friends and family if they need any flooring needs. I contacted Universal Carpet to come out to my residence to provide me with a quote. I explained to Larry that I was putting my town home on the market and needed to replace the worn carpet with new carpet on a set budgeted amount that I had in mind. He was able to provide me a quote that was wthin my budget. I let Larry know that I had other projects to finish prior to the installation my carpet. I put down my deposit and scheduled an installation date. Unfortunately due to unforseeable circumstances during my projects it was necessary to reschedule on three occasions.The installers were phenomenal. The treated my home as if it was there own. The trim work was freshly painted and they took great care in not marking it up. I would have no problem recommending Universal Carpet to my friends. Michael DiFranco

First time we tried Universal Carpet and we were happy with the results from ordering to install. The carpet was installed one week after the order because we needed to have it done as soon as possible and Cary accommodated us. The quality and price of the carpet was very good. The install people were clean and courteous. Cary followed through after the install to check on our satisfaction with the work. We have other rooms to do and would use Universal Carpet again.

We were sourcing a patterned carpet to replace a pattern carpet in our Georgian style house that was outdated. We visited another carpet provider in Elgin and was less than pleased with their ZERO follow up from our meeting even though we requested a follow up. They then presented a quote on the style we liked but when I cross checked it by getting another estimate from Universal Carpet Cary came in nearly $800+ less. Cary also returned calls promptly and brought samples. We were impressed with his quick follow ups, emailed estimates, so we went to his showroom where we found a huge selection that was far and above what his competitor offered on the floor. This allowed us to get a carpet that was less expensive but met all our needs. Cary's guys showed up close to on time, they were courteous and helpful. They moved some furniture and cleaned up after themselves. We were able to also work Universal to make some rugs out of some of our carpet scraps. I would recommend this carpet company

I had a great experience with the purchase and installation of my flooring. When I was at the showroom there wasn't any pressure to make a purchase which was lovely! Cary went over our flooring needs and honestly helped us make the best choice. Jake did our installation and I've gotten tons of compliments on his work!

I contacted Larry Mentz with an unusual request - that a very large (11X24) area rug be cut and bound for me. I wanted a very thick, "cushiony" rug because of my foot and leg problems, and Larry took a great deal of time both in my home, and in the store, in picking out the right kind of carpet for me, the best kind of pad, and just the right color. He let me take home large samples from the store, and ordered additional samples, which was a huge help in matching colors and judging the thickness on my floors. I'm a pretty high maintenance customer but Larry was so patient and accommodating. FINALLY, after a couple of months of deliberation, I decided on the final product and Larry provided an estimate which was far more reasonable than I had anticipated! He had the rug cut, bound, and delivered by Jake and Rick. They were wonderful as well, carefully moving my furniture and meticulously measuring the placement of this large rug. It fit perfectly! When they put my furniture back in place, they took a lot of time in moving it to my exact specs! I feel like Larry, Jake, and Rick all went out of their way to provide a quality product with very professional installation and service, and to meet my every request. I couldn't be more pleased with Universal Carpet and with their staff, and I would highly recommend them. I will certainly contact them again with my next carpeting needs. So nice to have such a great experience!

When we decided to get new carpet for our dining room, living room, stairs and hall way we looked at several different places. We had an idea what we were looking for and Larry, from UNIVERSAL CARPETS, went out of his way to help us find the color, style, texture and price range we were looking at. He was extremely patient and courteous, while still being very professional. He worked at getting us the best price possible. The installers came yesterday and laid our carpet. I was a bit skeptical when they showed up as they were both young and I was thinking these boys have not laid much carpet.[I have worked in a carpet store]. Well it was not long before I realized that they knew exactly what they were doing. They were fantastic. They were not only good at what they were doing, they were kind and very professional. They worked fast and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. I cannot say enough good about Jake and Rick. I want to have my bedrooms carpeted and will only have them install it. They are GOOD. I am more than pleased with my whole experience with Universal Carpet from beginning to end. The carpet looks beautiful.

I found a carpet that I liked at a different store but wasn't happy with the price. I needed 150 yards for 4 bedrooms and a hallway which was the entire second level of my house. I took a carpet sample from store to store trying to find a better price. Much to my surprise no two stores carry the same carpeting. Universal was the only store able to cross reference my sample with their suppliers and within 24 hours they found an exact match. They not only gave me a fair price, but Larry was extremely detailed as to where the seams would work best with the carpet pattern. The installers were very skilled efficient professionals and courteous. Surprisingly, the job only took two days!

My challenge was to pick carpeting for two rooms in a home I did not yet own and had very limited access to. Larry helped me navigate quality, texture and color so that I actually got beautiful living room carpet in the exact right color and a very nice and interesting carpet for a bedroom. Larry's help was invaluable, and I felt very confident in his recommendations. Oh, and the price was quite good. I feel I got good value.
