Dr. Grin is the gem doctor in the South Bay. He was recommended by my Rheumatologist doctor regarding my TMJ, and I'm so glad she did! Dr. Grin is professional, knowledgeable, and caring. When I went for my consultation, he devoted the full hour to calmly listen attentively to my health issues. He put me at ease on some questions I had. In today's times, it is unusual to find a doctor who takes the time to make you feel he is there to help ease your pain. In a matter of a few months, I'm pain free and full use of my jaw. The front office is very friendly and courteous. I appreciate that the sheet that needs to be filled out is personalized. Makes me feel like I am not just a number. If I told you how long (40 years) I've had migraines and how often (24/7), you wouldn't believe me. I've lost count of the number of doctors I have seen and the number of different medications I've tried. Oddly, after going to a pain management doctor who suggested PT, I met an awesome physical therapist who asked if anyone had treated me for TMJ. She had some referrals, but I did some research on my own and made appointments with two different doctors. The one she referred me to couldn't see me for two months. I found Dr. Grin online and they had time available within two weeks. It's only been a few months, and my pain level is lower than it's been in years -- with no prescribed meds. Dr. Grin understood my frustration and promised he'd help me find a solution. I didn't want a night guard. I'd tried several over the years and could never fall sleep with them in. He made a "bottom only" night guard that doesn't keep me awake. When I told him I somehow, in my sleep, take it out during the night, he told me not to worry, it will take some time to get used to it and a little relief is better than no relief. Dr. Grin surrounds himself with good people. His staff is amazing. He is always on time and never keeps me waiting. They are completely on top of the insurance side of things, so I don't have to worry that he'll present me with a bill after the fact for $1,000's that the insurance company would not cover. His patience and compassion is my reward for enduring years of "I don't know how to fix it" doctors, tests and meds. P.S. I was on hold with the other doctors office over five minutes before I could tell them I wanted to cancel my appointment!

I went to Dr. Grin for jaw pain. After careful examination and images, he determined that it was a muscular issue, not arthritis, which was nice to know. Dr. Grin started with basic treatment (exercises) to see what would help best before moving on to other methods. I ended up needing a lower mouth guard to help relieve the pain. I am happy to say that my pain is gone for the most part. I tend to clench my jaw when stressed so am still doing the exercises to relax. Dr. Grin and his staff are very friendly, accommodating, and professional.

I started my oral facial pain from TMJD journey at UCLA through the pain management clinic with Dr. Merrill. During the years of treatment I met Dr Paul Grin. Since moving away from the area, Dr Merrill reduced hours and Dr Grin opened his practice! I knew Dr Grin would continue my care with the same skill I'd received from Dr Merrill. Dr Grin is working to get my pain back under control and help me to heal. He is kind, patient and attentive during my appointments. He takes great care to ensure my treatments are successful. I am so grateful to have found this office!  Seven months ago, I injured my jaw. After first being treated at another practice (where I was satisfied with the care, but was paying increasingly large out of pocket expenses), my mother recommended Dr. Grin. Dr. Grin and his office are amazing! At first, it seemed to good to be true. 1) Dr. Grin has a caring, patient, and thorough bedside manner. 2) He is always on time, and he is respectful of my time. 3) I can get appointments when I need them. 4) The office has plentiful parking. 5) They take insurance, and are extremely helpful in working with the insurance to make sure everything is covered. 6) The office is well equipped- I needed a CT scan, and Dr. Grin did it in his office as part of my regular appointment! 7) Dr. Grin made me an appliance that has helped my mouth pain, and reduced my sleep apnea! Not only am I in less pain, but I am also sleeping better. Everyone in the office is a pleasure to deal with.  My only regret is that I did not find this office sooner.

Great care from Dr Grin and his staff. Not only is he a knowledgeable doctor he has a very friendly personality and very professional and caring care. I had a CPAP for years that I would stop using for extended periods due the discomfort, with Dr Grins help I sleep comfortably and do not wake gasping for air with a rapid heartbeat. Dr Grin is a fantastic doctor and has an unusually patient and kind personality which, when combined with his experience, and expertise in pain management makes for a great choice if you have TMJ joint pain or facial nerve pain. I came to Dr. Grin after ignoring my debilitating jaw joint pain for several months. I was unable to open my mouth all the way because its range of motion was severely restricted. Dr. Grin saw me-- on time, I might add, which is abnormal in the medical world-- and gave me a 1 hour consultation with imaging to help him further investigate the cause of my problems. Turns out I clench my teeth at night and my jaw muscles were severely spasming. The fix? Several rehabilitating stretches and exercises, strong anti inflammatory pills and a custom-made night guard. In subsequent visits, Dr. Grin took molds of my mouth for the night guard, then we ensured that they fit when they'd arrived at his office. After a few weeks wearing the night guard, my symptoms are greatly reduced. I am almost at full range of motion with my jaw and its ability to open all the way. All in all, my experience was good, not only because my symptoms seem to be going away, but also due to the compassionate manner of Dr. Grin. Also, his front desk staff are super stars-- they keep his office running on time, follow up on insurance questions and add to the "sunny" general atmosphere.

Dr. Grin was recommended to me by the Cedar Sinai TMJ department. He was able to see me within a very short period of time. His office staff was helpful, kind, and reassuring. Appointments were easy to schedule and waiting time was minimal. The office conveyed calmness and organization. Dr. Grin took the time necessary to thoroughly examine, test and diagnose my illness. He was able to connect my TMJ problem with other issues that were contributing to my severe headaches and nausea. He recommended I see a neurologist who specializes in treating headaches. Dr. Grin is perfectly willing to recommend other doctors or treatments if he feels it is best for his patient. Dr. Grin has successfully treated my TMJ-related pain. He is a perfectionist in making sure that the "night guards" fit properly, his medical notes are up-to-date, and that my progress continues. It's always so scary going to a new doctor. You never know what you might encounter. From the moment I walked in the door till I walked out - I was treated with professionalism, kindness, thoughtfulness and just an overall positive experience. They are VERY "on-time" and I never felt I was an afterthought or they didn't have time to see me. The one hour scheduled for my appointment was utilized to it's fullest. Dr. Grin is very patient and thorough with his examinations. I always thought I had to just deal with the pain from grinding and clenching my teeth, constantly replacing my night guard and always having neck and jaw pain. Dr. Grin has helped me tremendously. I wish I found him so many years ago when I first realized I was grinding at night and clenching throughout the day! I could have saved so much money on dental work and night guards!

Dr. Grin was able to diagnose my sleep apnea issue by taking the time to listen to my daily experiences. His patience and open thinking is a quality very seldom found in the medical industry. The reality is that I do not snore, but yet I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I realized that sleep apnea must be one of the lest recognized deficiency that a good portion of the population suffers. Apart from the excellent service that Dr. Grin and his whole office provides, the amazing thing is that I never have to wait. I was suffering from TMJ pain and couldn't quite figure out what type of doctor to go for help. My dentist referred me to another dentist who specialized in TMJ. Unfortunately, or in this case, fortunately, he was due to retire in a couple of weeks. I googled jaw pain doctors and found Dr. Grin. As luck would have it, it was one of the best search finds yet! My issue has since improved dramatically. But, more importantly, Dr. Grin is one of the best doctors you can hope to have on your side. He is kind and gentle. He takes the time to listen and explain to you. His office is well-appointed. And, did I mention, he has the best office staff? None of that horrible reception area and personnel that you see in some doctors' offices. The staff is as friendly and as attentive as Dr. Grin. Guess it helps when the boss serves as a role model. I was referred to Dr. Grin by my primary when I started to experience jaw pain. Though a variety of diagnostic methods, he identified the cause of the pain and set up a treatment plan. At every visit, he and his staff treated me with the highest respect and took the time to fully understand my progress. I've been struggling with Migraines for several years now and have seen a few different Doctor's over this time. Dr. Grin is BY FAR the best Doctor I've seen!!! Through his dedication and knowledge, he was able to properly diagnose the causes of my Migraines and provided me with the treatment needed to cure my problems! I am more than satisfied with his practice and the time he put in to analysis my situation. He is extremely kind and genuine, and truly knows what he's doing!!! By going to Dr Grinn, I was able to find an alternative to the CPap machine for my sleep apnea through a custom mouthguard and correct medication. I also eliminated my tmj and eventually my sleep apnea. I'm very lucky I found him, as work and life with sleep apnea is very hard to manage.

I'm very grateful to Dr. Grin for helping me get my life back. I was in terrible pain for months and the specialists I saw had no idea what was causing it and didn't seem to care that I was suffering so badly. Dr. Grin took my suffering seriously and finally gave me a correct diagnosis with appropriate medication. I am currently seeing this Dr. Grin after a sport accident that took place several years ago in hopes of lessening the pressure that is taking place from my nose/sinus areas. Dr. Grin is very kind and understanding. He takes his time listening to my questions. He is willing to explain things throughly. If I do not understand something, he takes his time to explain it for me. If medication isn't working out for me, then I tell him how it is making me feel worse if it is, and he is very understanding and supportive about it. Staff is also very kind and professional.

The best Dr. I've ever seen may have literally saved my life. Here's a summary of my experience with Dr. Grin: In June of this year after living with TMJ for over 30 years I started researching what options I had available to me other then my regular dentist -- who had me wearing night guard -- but the symptoms were worsening and I was experiencing severe pain in my jaw and rather suddenly tinnitus in my right ear. So after much research and the recommendation of my dentist I made an appointment to see Dr. Grin. The first appointments consisted of a long detailed interview and scans of my jaw --- the scans had never been done in the past. Anyway, when I returned for my follow-up appointment Dr. Grin explained to me as a result of his review of my scans he had forwarded them to the radiology department at UCLA (Dr. Grin teaches at UCLA as well). The Dr's at UCLA concurred with Dr. Grin's findings that I had a mass that was eating away at my right TMJ joint and had the potential if not treated through somewhat immediate surgery -- to enter my brain pan and cause catastrophic results. I had surgery on Aug 24th at UCLA by Dr. Freymiller with Dr. Grin in attendance. The surgery lasted approx. 4 hours and they removed the *mass (*pathology report still pending) but I've been assured it is not cancer. My jaw was wired shut for two weeks (lived off soup and smoothies) and I still have several screws in my mouth and rubber bands in an effort to correct the alignment of my jaw now that my right TMJ joint is gone. I'll write further reviews as my treatments with Dr. Grin continue -- he did make two new appliances for me to wear in the daytime and at night -- however unfortunately due to the screws in my mouth I can't wear them at this time. I am going to see Dr. Grin this week to see if he can fashion some temporary mouth guards. In summary, do not hesitate to see Dr. Grin if you are suffering from TMJ or other related problems he is the best (and may save your life as well). Dr. Grin and his staff deserve the highest possible accolades. I was referred to the office after a long siege of significant TMJ disorder and pain. In my case my jaw bone was displaced within the socket. My jaw had shifted in such a way that I could not properly chew on food. There was constant popping of the joint. Dr. Grin's excellent state-of-the-art imaging equipment quickly identified the problem and indicated for him the appropriate course of action. With the combination of an injection into the joint and a muscle relaxant my jaw is functioning normally and without pain or popping. As a further precaution Dr. Grin fit me with appliances to wear at night and in the day. I am very pleased with the results. Dr. Grin is a most pleasant man who is willing to spend whatever amount of time is needed and seems to be truly dedicated to his patients. I never felt rushed. I also found his staff to be most helpful and friendly.

Dr. Grin is a gem.. He is the first doctor to provide me with relief from my maxillofacial pain. It took me many years and I went through many other doctors to find him. He listens very very well and is very patient in providing incremental care and nothing intrusive. If you are looking for pain relief, he is your man. I was referred to Dr.Grin by my dentist because I was experiencing severe jaw pain following dental work on the lower rear tooth on the right side of my mouth. It was very painful to open my mouth more than a quarter of an inch. Following Dr.Grin's treatment and exercises the pain has gone completely away. In addition to Dr.Grin's competent and successful treatment, he was also very kind and gentle and took the extra time to thoroughly explain everything he was doing and going to do. He also has a great sense of humor! I would strongly recommend Dr.Grin for any similar condition and treatment. He is a great doctor!!

I wish to leave a wholehearted recommendation for Dr. Paul Grin. He was recommended to me by my pulmonary specialist, Dr. Roman Culjat, to be fitted with a set of dental devices to supplement my CPAP. This was all in relation to a very complex ongoing chronic migraine headache condition I have had for many, many years. I cannot recall a doctor and dentist that I would rate more highly than Dr. Grin. And, as a retired person, I've seen quite a few doctors. To my pleasant surprise, Dr. Grin is also a oral facial pain doc, and a headache specialist. To make a long story short....from what I experienced, Dr. Grin takes an amazing amount of time and interest in his patients. He looks you in the eye, gives you all his attention, writes down all of his notes by pen, all the while, asking you detailed questions about you and your background. This is almost unheard of these days. On the clinical side, his work and technique are efficient and spot on. His dental appliances fit perfect and he went above and beyond what I expected. His advise is carefully explained and well conveyed. Finally, his staff is also wonderful. They are warm, welcoming, and efficient. But, it is Dr, Grin who is really a truly an exceptional Dr. I think that the quality of the staff reflects the doctor and vice versa.

Dr. Grin, is hands down one of the best doctors I have seen in my 57 years of life. His demeanor and bedside manner is calm, positive, thorough and attentive. I originally saw Dr. Grin due to tremendous pain in my jaw. He made me feel comfortable and relaxed and asked all the right questions to provide me with the right medical treatment. He is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated and I am beyond impressed with him and his staff. They are courteous, professional and genuinely care. In my experience I have found that doctors are usually rushed when attending patients, but not Dr. Grin. It's a wonderful feeling to find a doctor who really cares about your whole being and takes the time to explain his findings.
