We were so thrilled when we discovered Dr. Sommers! We wanted someone who had a low cost and my husband was adamant that he wanted local anestesia. Everyone was kind in the office and very informative. After the procedure they were quick to respond to our emails with any questions we had. And we were so lucky to become pregnant our first try after the procedure! Also the procedure fixed my husbands post vasectomy pain syndrome! So thankful for this practice and would highly recommend to anyone!

I drove in from Tennessee to have the procedure done at Dr Sommers office. One of my concerns was due to the fact that I was coming alone, my wife was not able to make the trip with me and I worried about being able to get back home with out any issues. I stayed at a hotel near the office (The Cheshire) which was very convenient, and I had no problem getting to the office and back again after the procedure. The office is within walking distance to two pharmacies. I stayed the night after the procedure and had no issue at all the following day with the drive home. Dr Sommers and his staff were very professional and did everything they could to keep me comfortable during the procedure. Everything I was told about what to expect in the pain during recovery and the healing process overall was very accurate. I'm VERY, VERY glad that I went this route instead of paying 2-3 times as much as I would have paid to have this done in a hospital operating room. Looking back on my experience, I can honestly say that this type of procedure should be done with local anesthesia, putting someone to sleep for a vasectomy reversal seems dangerous and unnecessary, in my opinion. Overall, I would definitely recommend Midwest Vasectomy Reversal. They are great people and my experience with them was definitely positive.

I had my vasectomy about 4 years ago as just the best form of birth control for my wife and I. When I had my vasectomy it wasnt a terrible experience but it did take quite a bit of time to get back to 100% as far as some physical activities. (mainly running). My wife and I have been considering having another baby for close to a year now and I started looking up vasectomy reversals. We live in the Kansas City area and was excited to see we had this low cost option fairly close to us. I was always told that a reversal is a much more invasive surgery than a vasectomy itself so I was surprised to find this minimally invasive option. After giving it lots of consideration and reading endless reviews on Dr. Sommers we decided to go for it. Scheduling was super easy, there's only a few easy steps to take as few as surgery prep, and everyone was friendly and professional. The surgery itself was way more comfortable than my vasectomy, Sr. Sommers was very good at explaining everything that he was doing so there wasn't any surprises. The procedure was also much quicker than I thought it would be. I am close to 2 weeks since my reversal and I feel very close to 100%. Really just the day of the surgery was the only time there was any discomfort and I was able to keep the pain under control with just some ibuprofen a few times through the day and ice packs. Next day I hardly needed anything other than some tight boxer briefs. Went back to work 3 days after the procedure and have been taking it easy at work, sticking to the guidelines Dr. Sommers gives and it has been a breeze. If you are worried abt the pain aspect of the reversal don't be. Going to Dr. Sommers will be the best decision you make I promise.

Dr.Sommers was great! I had a vasectomy 8 years ago and then contact Dr. Sommer’s office for a reversal. I had the procedure in June 2019 and my wife and I are currently expecting in September 2020. The procedure was a lot simpler than I thought it would be. As long as you take it easy over the weekend things will be ok by Monday. Strongly recommend Dr. Sommers!

Dr. Sommers knows his line of work very well - I would recommend doing this procedure as outpatient any day over a hospital stay with general anesthesia, and I flew from out of town with layovers in each direction by myself. Local anesthesia was plenty - and pressure/pain of reversal was similar to my original Vasectomy - minimal. Procedure went as planned and was very timely, and his office is close to to various hotels and 15/20 minutes from the airport. Thanks Dr.

The entire procedure from start to finish was very smooth and patient friendly. I can't think of anything that could have been done better. Communication was excellent, follow up has been appreciated and the procedure was as expected thus far.

The procedure went just as described. It took 2 hours and was much less traumatic than my vasectomy. The local anesthetic used was virtually painless. Dr. sommers was very professional and I could tell he has done this many times and the process down to a T. Used peas for ice for the 10 hour ride home. The recovery was a degree more painful than my vasectomy but at 2 wks post op I feel completely recovered. We had one question following the reversal and Dr. sommers responded within the hour and was very reassuring. I am five years post vasectomy and plan to update if/when pregnancy occurs. I would highly recommend Dr. sommers.

Dr. Sommers is an amazing doctor! I was a little nervous going into this appointment, but my fears were put at ease immediately. Dr. Sommers is very personable and made this whole process easier. He talked through my surgery to keep my mind off of things, and I did not feel any pain at all during the whole process. He let me know what to expect after the surgery, and he gave me his personal number which shows that is truly cares about his clients. I came from Chicago based on other positive reviews and because of his low cost procedure, and I was not disappointed one bit. My wife is always a nervous wreck, and he included her in the consultation and answered her questions which put her mind at ease. 18 months later and WE HAVE A SON!! We initially travelled 4 hours to STL for my reversal, the local anesthesia was the most painless procedure ever! Barely felt a “pinch” on first application and the recovery time was great. Low pain, little swelling/bruising, and great semen analysis after healing! I had my vasectomy done 21 years previous and our hopes were high that a reversal would work. It DID! And now we have a baby boy and are planning another baby soon! Dr. Sommers is an incredible man, very professional & knowledgable staff, and does EXCELLENT work! We would highly recommend MVR for your family planning needs! After conducting weeks of research, and calling multiple offices, my wife and I decided to have my vasectomy reversed at Midwest Vasectomy Reversals. Dr. Sommers and his staff were courteous and professional. I flew in at 8pm the night before and was back on a plane flying home at 1pm the following day after spending a little under 2 hours at Dr. Sommers office. The procedure was painless and the recovery was equivalent to the vasectomy and now has me curious as to why other facilities require general anesthesia. My anxiety leading up to the procedure was easily the worse part. I could not recommend Midwest Vasectomy Reversals enough.

Dr Sommers was great! Took time to explain everything and answer any questions. I’m three weeks out and have had very little discomfort - never did have to take the prescribed pain meds, ibuprofen was sufficient for the first few days. Bruising and swelling went down after a week and by two weeks the stitches came out from the two incision locations and healed up perfectly. We were apprehensive because of the price being so low compared to other doctors in our area and having never met Dr Sommers prior to the day of the appointment, however, we were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. I’m beginning to wonder why anyone goes to a doctor that administers general anesthesia. Dr Sommers does a local anesthesia that is only slightly painful for a few brief seconds and from there everything is numb with very little discomfort throughout the surgery. I was able to walk out of the office myself and ride in the car for 4 hours back home with no issues. I would highly recommend using Dr Sommers. Paying $10,000+ for this procedure seems ridiculous if you are able to travel to Midwest Vasectomy Reversals.

I researched several different physicians that perform the vasectomy reversal procedure and settled on Dr. Sommers. My research revealed that the cost of the procedure was quite reasonable and the outcomes were above average. The scheduling process was quite easy. If you are like me, one of biggest apprehensions is the thought of someone taking a scalpel to your “boys” and the pain that thought generates. Dr. Sommers uses a Madajet to administer a local anesthetic. There are no needles involved. This numbed my scrotum to the point that I did not feel the incision or any of the work he did during the procedure. I was quite relaxed during the procedure. As a matter of fact, I was wearing my Apple Watch during the procedure and the app I use to record my sleep recorded the time during the procedure as time sleeping. Dr. Sommers had a great bedside manner and the procedure went smoother than I had expected. If you are exploring having a reversal done, I would strongly encourage you to use Dr. Sommers.

Yes, I am a real patient and these are my own thoughts. My wife and I found Midwest Vasectomy Reversals through google. This was after finding a facility who's price was ~$4500 which was the cheapest we had seen at that time. Fortunately that fell through because we then found MVR who's price was $3200. We were leery of the price because of how much cheaper it was than anything else we had seen. The price is real. If I remember correctly it was $500 down and that was fully refundable up to 2 or 3 weeks before the procedure then the rest is owed at their office before the procedure. No other costs. We loved how straight forward this was. Our travel time was about 5 hours to get there. We stayed overnight in a nearby hotel. My wife drove us back. I probably could have performed some of the driving and Dr. Sommers gave me the okay to drive if I felt up to it but my wife wanted to be on the safe side so she drove. The procedure: We chose to have our consultation immediately before the procedure. Dr. Sommers was very thorough and efficient with the consultation. Sign a few forms, answered our questions and done. The procedure room was like a typical patient's room at a doctor's office plus a few specialized tools to get this specific job done. The worst part of the whole procedure was the numbing. I was laying down so i did not see anything but it felt like and sounded like rubber bands snapping against my scrotum maybe 10x per side. Luckily it's tolerable and the first on each side was the worst but the numbing agent began working very quickly. Even from the first "snap" to the 2nd was less painful. The procedure lasted around 1 hr 45 min or so. He and the nurse seemed to be very efficient and confident. We were have a conversation most of the time and music was playing in the background. I never felt uneasy with them. The nurse was very friendly and nice. The local anesthesia did the job perfectly. I did not feel anything. There was one time where I felt a very slight pinch while he was working on me but he said to let him know if that happened so I did and he added a little more local to the site. After that I felt nothing but slight tugging on my vaz here and there. Just slight pressure but no pain at all. My vasectomy took a bit longer to heal than average so I expected my reversal surgery to take longer as well. I felt better much more quickly after my reversal than the vasectomy. I was very pleased. Still plenty of bruising but I felt well enough after 3 days which is when I returned to work. Mistake. I should not have gone. I should have stayed home for a few more days. I moved too much and made it worse so I took off the rest of the week. By the following week I was good to go. Still slight discomfort but tolerable. In the days following he called asking how I was doing and to text him with any questions or if I needed anything. I did and he responded quickly. In my profession I use microscopes regularly so I was able to use my home microscope to check for any "activity". I'm not sure how normal this is but 2.5 weeks after the procedure I checked my semen for sperm and I found there to be thousands. Pretty fun and exciting to see. The procedure was clearly successful. If you are reading this and have any doubts on the price or the quality of work or the location or building they are located in, do not worry about it. Their website is accurate. He seems like a good guy and honest with what is going on. What I really liked about him is that this is the only procedure he does. That means he gets a lot of practice in. This was a big plus in my mind. I had no issues with anything regarding the entire process. I would absolutely recommend Midwest Vasectomy Reversals.

I was concerned about this surgery. I lived 6 hours away and had never met the medical team there. Upon arrival I was greeted with smiles and checked in very professionally. Dr. Sommers took the time to go over all details of the surgery and answered all questions I had before I asked them. The surgery was much more painless than I feared and after it was completed I had no trouble riding all they way home same day. Couldn't have went any better. I highly recommend him and his team. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Sommers, his staff, and my experience. I had an awful experience with my initial vasectomy at a facility near Chicago. A lot of discomfort and nausea during the procedure, with significant vomiting after. After that mildly traumatic experience, I was genuinely concerned about being able to undergo a reversal. Dr. Sommers spent time on the phone with me in the weeks leading up to the procedure to really help me understand what to expect and made me as comfortable as possible with the process. After that phone call I felt completely confident in our decision to make the trip down to St. Louis for the reversal. My wife and I came down the night before and made a date night out of it. Once we got there they did a great job of helping us feel completely at ease. They were friendly and welcoming. The procedure was easy and pain free. I was really worried about that after having a lot of pain with the vasectomy but this was nothing. It also really helped being able to talk to them during the procedure. They kept things light and did a fantastic job helping me keep my mind off what was going on. My wife and I are incredibly thankful to have found Dr. Sommers.

Overall I had a great experience. I was initially a little concerned that there was no evaluation prior to coming in for the procedure but that was quickly put to rest when I received the pre op evaluation. Any questions that I had were answered in the communications received before the procedure. When I arrived for surgery I was met by friendly staff and was quickly brought back to meet Dr. Sommers for a consultation and explanation of what to expect during and after the surgery. During the procedure I was informed of what was happening step by step. I was kept comfortable through your the entire process. If I had any concerns after I went home they were answered quickly through email and if by chance they weren’t I was given another means of communication through text of phone call. I’m currently three weeks out and feeling well. Hopefully my wife and I will be able to say that everything worked well and we will be expecting.

I had a vasectomy 9 years ago. My wife and I drove in from Milwaukee WI, booked a hotel 2 months in advance but the hotel cancelled our reservation 2 days before surgery for an unknown reason. We had to scramble to make new reservations. Everything worked great. We stayed at the Comfort Inn and suites Hazelwood St. Louis. They were great! Surgery was at 9am Doctor Sommers was fantastic. Kept conversation with me through the entire procedure. Always checking to make sure I was ok. They even gave my wife tasks to do while I was in surgery and I was able to text her with updates so she knew how I was doing. I was very nervous but surgery was nearly painless. I would suggest if you’re coming from out of town stay an extra night and ice down with peas for 24 hours. Pain afterwards was similar to getting the vasectomy done. Today is 3 weeks later. I feel great! If I had to do it again Dr Sommers is where I would go!

Initially arriving, we were a little hesitant because we arrived before staff. However, to our surprise once we entered we learned that the MD was already in the office and just preparing for providing services. Dr. Somner, was professional and very knowledgeable and informative. The office was small, but very clean and well kept. The staff were nice and very accommodating. He answered all our questions both before and after procedure. My husband stated he had a pleasant experience, with very little to no pain during the procedure. My husband stated that during the 2 weeks, he had very little discomfort and very little pain if any. I would recommend using them for your reversal needs.
